Avnet Embedded announces first high-performance COM Express module family based on 13th generation Intel Core processors
Stutensee, Germany – January 03, 2023 – Avnet Embedded today announces its powerful MSC C6B-RLP COM Express™ Type 6 module series based on the newly announced 13thGen Intel® Core™ P-series processors (codenamed “Raptor Lake P-series”). Avnet Embedded offers customers an entire ecosystem of starter kit, board support package and design-in support and allows an easy implementation of the new processor technology for the rapid development of innovative embedded products.
The scalable MSC C6B-RLP COM Express Type 6 module family offers a wide selection of CPUs giving application designers a great variety of choices of performant compute and power efficient solutions for compute intense applications in industrial, medical, transportation, video surveillance and gaming. Selected modules are specified for the extended temperature range from -40 to 85°C and allow continuous 24/7 operation. Some modules provide TSN (Time Sensitive Networking) and Intel® TCC (Time Coordinated Computing) support enabling extended real-time capabilities.
The 13th Gen Intel Core P-series processors integrate Intel’s Performance Hybrid Architecture which combines Performance-cores and Efficient-cores. The integrated Intel® Thread Director provides intelligent workload optimization of the single cores. The architecture scales up to 14 cores and 20 threads at 45/35W thermal design power (TDP). For applications with demand for lower power consumption single processor variants are suited for 12W TDP.
With the MSC C6B-RLP module family, Avnet Embedded expands its broad COM Express product portfolio at the higher end of the performance range. The embedded boards are developed by Avnet Embedded in its own design centers and manufactured in highly automated production facilities. Avnet Embedded guarantees a long-term availability for its innovative module family to protect customers’ system investments. In addition, the COM Express standard enables performance scaling and migrating to future technology upgrades.

Avnet Embedded’s powerful MSC C6B-RLP COM Express Type 6 module family is equipped with 13th Gen Intel Core processors (Codename „Raptor Lake H/P/U-series“). The integrated Intel® Iris® Xe Architecture Graphics with up to 96 EUs (execution units) ensures high graphics performance.
For highest data throughput the MSC C6B-RLP modules enable fast DDR5-4800 memory technology. Up to two SO-DIMMs can be installed for a total memory capacity from 8 to 64GB.
The MSC C6B-RLP COM Express modules can be connected to the COM Express carrier board via eight PCIe Gen 4 and Gen 3 lanes and a 1×8 lane PEG port capable of PCIe Gen 4. The Ethernet interface based on the Intel® i225 network controller provides up to 2.5GbE bandwidth. Additionally, four USB 3.2 Gen 1/2 and eight USB 2.0 ports, two UARTs, three DisplayPort/HDMI interfaces and one LVDS and Embedded DisplayPort interface to control up to four independent displays are available on the boards. Mass storage devices are connected via two SATA 6Gb/s channels. Optionally, the computer-on-modules can be equipped with up to 1 TB NVMe SSD.
