MSC OSM-MF-IMX8PLUS
Nuremberg, Germany – March 26, 2024 — Avnet (Nasdaq: AVT) launches module based on the compact OSM Size M format featuring NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus family of processors. The MSC OSM-MF-IMX8PLUS is based on the compact OSM 1.1 standard (Size-M) “Medium” for completely machine processible low-cost embedded computer modules during soldering, assembly and testing.
The i.MX 8M Plus family of applications processors delivers features such as high computing power with efficient power consumptions between two and six watt, depending on version. Typical applications include machine learning solutions at the edge, intelligent image processing systems, professional multimedia systems, industrial IoT, and smart home/building automation solutions.
“This new module enlarges our OSM product range with higher processor performance and offers an alternative to the existing SMARC module in a smaller size,” said Thomas Staudinger, president, Avnet Embedded. “It is designed to have the right balance of performance and low power efficiency while offering a scalable, feature rich and secure solution.”
Small form factor: Tiny OSM 1.1 standard (Size-M) “Medium” with dimensions of 30 x 45mm. (approx.1/3 of the size of the SMARC Module)
Highly scalable and equipped: The module offers dual- or quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processors in combination with the ARM Cortex-M7 real-time processor, GC 7000UL multimedia 2D/3D GPU and Machine Learning Accelerator (2.3 TOPS).
Various interfaces for embedded applications: Dual Gigabit Ethernet (RGMII) with IEEE 1588 support and one of them with TSN support, 1x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.0, 2x CAN-FD, 3x SPI, 2x I2S for Audio I/O, the graphics interfaces dual-channel LVDS, MIPI DSI and HDMI 2.0 are available. Camera modules can be connected via one MIPI CSI-2 interface. The typical design power ranges from 2 to 6W.
This board will be exhibited in the Avnet Embedded booth (Hall 1–510) at embedded world (April 9-11 in Nuremberg, Germany), alongside a range of new development boards engineered by Avnet Embedded, focused on edge-AI applications.
