These new module families – new COM Express, COM-HPC, SMARC, and OSM – mean that our customers can quickly embed the best computing capabilities into their products.
For demanding applications, requiring high scalability of performance and energy efficiency, are COM Express™ Type 6, COM Express™ Compact and COM-HPC™, which are based on the new 13th Gen Intel® Core™ processors (codenamed “Raptor Lake”)
The 13th Gen Intel® Core™ processors integrate Intel’s Performance Hybrid Architecture which combines Performance-cores and Efficient-cores. The architecture scales up to 14 cores and 20 threads. The integrated Intel® Thread Director provides intelligent workload optimization of the single cores. The integrated Intel® Iris® Xe architecture graphics with up to 96 EUs (execution units) ensures high graphics performance.
Our new MSC C6B-RLP COM Express Type 6 module family features 13th Gen Intel Core H-series, P-series and U-series processors (codenamed “Raptor Lake H/P/U-series”). Typical applications for this module family include industrial, medical, transportation, and video surveillance solutions.
Some modules provide TSN (Time Sensitive Networking) and Intel® TCC (Time Coordinated Computing) support for extended real-time capabilities. Selected modules have an extended temperature range of -40 to 85°C and allow continuous 24/7 operation. For highest data throughput the MSC C6B-RLP modules enable fast DDR5-4800 memory technology. Up to two SO-DIMMs can be installed for a total memory capacity from 8 to
64GB.
These powerful modules can be connected to the COM Express carrier board via eight PCIe Gen 4 and Gen 3 lanes and a 1×8 lane PEG port capable of PCIe Gen 4. The Ethernet interface based on the Intel® i226 network controller provides up to 2.5GbE bandwidth. Three DisplayPort/HDMI interfaces and one LVDS and Embedded DisplayPort interface to control up to four independent displays are available on the boards. Mass storage devices are connected via two SATA 6Gb/s channels. Optionally, the computer-on-modules can be equipped with up to 1 TB NVMe SSD.
Our new MSC SM2S-ALN module family in the SMARC™ form factor and the new MSC C6C-ALN COM Express Type 6 Compact module family can be equipped with the Intel® Atom® processors x7000E series, Intel® Core™ i3 processor or Intel® Processors N series processor with two, four or eight processor cores. The CPU architecture is based on the same efficient cores and Intel® UHD graphics driven by Xe architecture as used by the 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors, thus easing up application migration across Intel CPU performance and power ranges.
The MSC C6C-ALN module family can drive up to three independent displays with a maximum of 4k resolution. High speed IO includes up to six PCIe Gen 3 lanes, up to four USB 3.1 interfaces and Ethernet up to 2.5GbE bandwidth. The COM Express Type 6 interface allows direct access to digital display interfaces including DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, and the choice of LVDS versus eDP. Mass storage is provided with the optional on-board eMMC memory and externally accessible via up to two SATA channels. For network applications, the standard modules support Time-Sensitive Networking and Intel Time Coordinated Computing.
Typical applications of the energy-efficient MSC C6C-ALN modules in the Compact format (95 x 95mm) include point-of-sales terminals, digital signage controllers, HMI solutions and medical equipment.
Besides the Intel based module families Avnet Embedded also launched new SMARC and OSM modules integrating NXP™ Semiconductors’ i.MX 93 applications processors.
We can offer customers an entire ecosystem for all Computer-on-Module (CoM) families consisting of starter kit, board support package and design-in support. The boards are developed by Avnet Embedded in our own design centers and manufactured in highly automated production facilities. As a result, we are able to guarantee long-term availability (at least ten years) for our innovative products, protecting our customers’ system investments.
