Avnet Embedded announces groundbreaking of major new manufacturing site in Eschbach, Germany
Freiburg, Germany – 10 May 2022 – Avnet Embedded has held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the commencement of a new multi-million-euro manufacturing site in Europe. This expanded manufacturing capacity, (located at Breisgau Industrial Park in Eschbach near Freiburg, Germany), will focus on industrial electronic systems and is a direct response to a significant growth in global demand for innovative embedded solutions.
The completion of the build and move to Eschbach is scheduled for early 2023. The new campus will be home to 8,000m2 of manufacturing space, 7,200 m2 of warehousing space and 3,000 m2 of office and recreational space with parking. Employees and visitors will be able to take advantage of extensive green spaces and grounds. Compared to the current facility in Freiburg, Eschbach will have about twice as much manufacturing space connected to a large logistics space.

Avnet Embedded has signed a long-term rental agreement on the site and is investing several million euros in equipping the highly automated manufacturing site, which will use leading-edge technologies and sustainable manufacturing processes to achieve carbon neutrality for its operations. Particular attention is being paid to providing attractive workplaces for all employees and ensuring sufficient capacity reserves for growth. In the last two years alone, the workforce at the Freiburg site has grown by over 20%.
Dr. Dominik Ressing, Vice President (VP) Avnet Embedded, says: “At Avnet, we see the embedded business worldwide as the growth engine of the future and are therefore continually expanding our design and manufacturing capacities for industrial electronic systems. With the new site, we are taking a major step towards realizing double-digit growth in the coming years. Moreover, we intend to maintain the company’s in-house expertise in the most advanced technologies.”
